Tina Diallo: Pop-Can Chicken

Step 1: You Will Need

1 Can Of Lemonade

1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1/4 cup sweet paprika

3 tablespoons freshly ground black pepper

3 tablespoons kosher or sea salt

1 tablespoon hickory salt

2 teaspoons garlic powder

2 teaspoons onion powder

2 teaspoons celery seeds

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper



Step 2: Make Rub/Rub Chicken
Wash your hands and then Mix up the following ingredients on step 1. You will have to use your fingers to mix the rub in good. Then you will take the chicken and put the rub on it make sure you rub it in and pat it that way the flavor could get into it. Then You'll let it sit for several hours before smoking it.


Step 3: Smoking Time
Preheat the smoker up to 250 degree, Place chicken on pop can and then tuck the wings on the back of the neck. Then place chicken on smoker and let it slowly cook for 4 hours.





Step 4: Check your chicken

This chicken has been on the smoker for 4 hours. It should be tender and juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Open it up and take a look.

Take the instant read thermometer and insert it into the thickest part of the chicken's breast, and make sure it reads at least 165 degrees or up so we know that it's safe and ready to be served. You may use tongs to take out chicken


Step 5: Serve
before serve, please let it sit for 10 minutes. Then cut it in half and pull it into small streads. BON APPETITE

Simple Bar-B-Que Recipe
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 1 dash cayenne sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

How To Make Bar-B-Que Sauce
  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, stir together the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, hot pepper sauce, garlic powder, mustard powder, and salt. Bring to a simmer, then remove from heat and allow to cool

Another reason I picked this intersession is because I never barbeque before and I wanted to try something new so why not? I also Love chicken that's why I'm cooking it for the competition and I really make some good roast chicken so I guess I try to make BBQ Chicken.
