Pop Can Chicken

Dry Rub
Step 1: Ingredients
  • 5 tablespoons paprika
  • 3 tablespoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper

BBQ Sauce:


  • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup cider vinegar (or white distilled)
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon prepared yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cups tomato ketchup


- Combine all ingredients in large saucepan. Stir well. Over medium heat, bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 60 minutes. Stir occasionally as it cooks. Store in refrigerator. Keeps for several weeks.

Step 2: Make Rub/Rub Chicken

Wash your hands and then Mix up the following ingredients on step 1. You will have to use your fingers to mix the rub in good. Then you will take the chicken and put the rub on it make sure you rub it in and pat it that way the flavor could get into it. Then You'll let it sit for several hours before smoking it.

Step 3: Smoking Time

Preheat the smoker up to 250 degree, Place chicken on pop can and then tuck the wings on the back of the neck. Then place chicken on smoker and let it slowly cook for 4 hours.

Step 4: Check your chicken

This chicken has been on the smoker for 4 hours. It should be tender and juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Open it up and take a look.

Take the instant read thermometer and insert it into the thickest part of the chicken's breast, and make sure it reads at least 165 degrees or up so we know that it's safe and ready to be served. You may use tongs to take out chicken

Step 5: Serve

before serve, please let it sit for 10 minutes. Then cut it in half and pull it into small streads.
